About HanoiTravel.com

An independent guide to Vietnam’s capital, for people who want to see it properly.

HanoiTravel.com exists to help you get the most out of Hanoi — not just what to see, but how the city works: when the mausoleum opens, how to cross the road, which food tours and day trips are worth it, and where to stay.

Independent, not official. This site is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with the Vietnamese government, the Hanoi authorities, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism or any museum or monument. It is a privately published travel guide.

What we cover

  • The Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the French Quarter, the temples, museums and monuments.
  • Street food, food tours, cooking classes, water puppets and evening life.
  • Day trips and short breaks: Ha Long and Lan Ha Bay, Ninh Binh, the Perfume Pagoda, craft villages and Sapa.
  • Getting there and around: the airport, trains, buses, Grab and visas.
  • Where to stay, when to go, money, safety and etiquette.

How we research

Opening times, fees and journey times are checked against official sources, operators and booking platforms and reviewed regularly. Tour ratings and review counts come directly from GetYourGuide. Where a figure moves around — fares, entrance fees, opening days — we give a range and say so, rather than pretending to a precision that does not exist.

How the site is funded

We are an affiliate partner of GetYourGuide (tours and tickets) and Booking.com (hotels). If you book through a link on this site, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. There is no advertising and no paid placement in any ranking. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

Plan your Hanoi days

Eat in the alleys, ride a Vespa, sail among the karsts

Taste pho, bun cha and egg coffee with a local guide, watch the water puppets, cross the city on the back of a Vespa — then spend a day among the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay or the rice fields of Ninh Binh. Compare the tours and book in a couple of taps.
